The Tikka realistic mullet fly is our most anatomically accurate mullet imitation, built for anglers who want extra contrast when the water isn’t perfectly clear. We tied this version on a chinchilla magnum rabbit strip tail, then hand-marked the entire top of the fly black — from the head through the tail — to create the same black-over-white countershading real mullet use to blend into open water. It adds just enough contrast to stand out in stained or off-color conditions, without giving up the profile that makes a mullet a mullet. Whether you’re covering a tannic pass or a wind-stirred flat, the Tikka realistic mullet fly reads as the real thing at any depth.

Every serious mullet-run angler eventually wants a truer color match than a solid white pattern can offer. In fact, the black-marked back gives fish a visible target from above and below, exactly how real mullet naturally appear in the water column.
