The Friendly Flamingo Tournament (FFT) is a fun tournament. It is mostly composed of local guides looking to let their hair down from the uptight invitationals and for local anglers to compete as long as they have a skiff to do so. Although there are prizes from Nautilus Reels, Yeti, Florida Fishing Products, and many others companies, the grand prize is the bragging rights. The fly division was tight. In fact, I knew for sure that my angler Eduardo Ortero and I had it in the bag. It was a big surprise to realized that we won third place. Ah. Lesson learned. Never think you have it in the bag. Keep casting till it’s lines out.
